Biography

Born in Ottawa, ON, in 1971, and educated at Glebe Collegiate Institute, Queen’s University, and at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto (MBA). Member of the Ottawa Athletic Club, where she was coached by Linda Stewart and, later, Carla Jensen, and at Goodlife – Queensview by Andrew Dales. She turned professional in 1995, moved to Toronto in 1996 and now plays out of the Toronto Cricket,Skating & Curling Club (TCS &CC). She lives in Toronto with her husband squash player James, and their two sons, Jack and Sam, and daughter Natasha. During the past 20 years she has won over 40 World, National, and Provincial Doubles championships, 16 Professional Doubles championships and has been in the final of 16 other Professional Doubles events. During this time she has had no less than 20 different playing partners.

Achievements

  • Member of Queen’s University (1992-3) and University of Toronto (1999-2000) Women’s teams that won Ontario University Athletics squash championships. Chosen Player of the Year at University of Toronto for 2000-01 and won the OUA Women’s Singles title that year.
  • Member of Canadian team at 1998 PanAmerican Championships. Team came 2nd and she was 5/8 in Singles.
  • Member of Ontario Women’s team which won the Canadian Women’s Team title in 1998.
  • Winner of Ontario Women’s Doubles (10 times), Ontario Women’s 40+ Doubles (4), and  Ontario Mixed Doubles (7) Championships, between 1999 and 2016.
  • Winner of Canadian Women’s Doubles (5), and Canadian Mixed Doubles (8) Championships, between 2004 and 2017.
  • Winner of Canadian Women’s 30+ in 2015 and Canadian Women’s 45+ in 2017.
  • Winner of US Women’s Doubles (4), and US Mixed Doubles (1) Championships, between 2012 and 2016.
  • Winner, with husband James, of US Mixed Doubles in 2004.
  • Winner of World Women’s Doubles in 2006, 2009, and 2011, silver medalist in 2013, and Bronze medalist in 2015.
  • Winner of World Mixed Doubles, with Viktor Berg, of 2015 title, and Bronze medalist with him in 2013.
  • Ranked No. 1 Women’s and Mixed Doubles player in North America, and by WDSA/WSDA, in several years.
  • Co-captain of Team Canada in Can/Am Cups of 2010 and 2015.
  • Former President of Squash Ontario, former athlete representative with Squash Canada, and Past Chair of TCS&CC Squash Committee.
