Our ODSA Junior team traveled to Barrie, ON on March 1, 2018, to compete at the 2018 Ontario Winter Games. This event, organized by the Government of Ontario, is the largest multi-sport event in Ontario. It features provincial level athletes from ages 12 to 18 who qualify through a regional selection process conducted by the Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs). The Games take place every two years and are awarded through a bidding process. They are supported by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport in collaboration with host communities.
Catherine Giachino (OAC), Peri Agate (GOOD), Zainab Khanzada (BARR), Emilie Wallace (RA), Tarun Balaraj (RA), Barrett Aass (OAC), Max Shewchenko (OAC), and Shea Kennedy under the direction of coach Maxym Leclair and manager Luz Osorio (OAC/CARL), delivered outstanding performances against some of Ontario and Canada’s top ranked players. After 3 days of play and 5 matches, our juniors displayed their best skills leaving everything on court while battling it out with true grit, finishing 8th.
