From July 30th to August 5th, 755 players from 59 countries descended on the McArthur Squash Center in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA hosted the 2018 WSF World Masters Squash Championships. That included 7 players from the ODSA who made the trip to Virginia to take place in this bi-annual event. Results from our players are below as long as personal accounts from the event. The 2020 WSF World Masters Squash Championship has been awarded to Wroclaw, Poland at the 33 court Hasta La Vista Club which will take place Aug 25-31, 2020. Start making plans now!

Playing in the world masters championship was simply a blast, growing up I never thought I would ever be participating in a world championship of some sort. What I will remember: the amazing squash facilities, the smartness and skills of those top players, how awesome it is to compete in a draw of about 80 players, meeting all those people passionate about squash, and having a decent run by reaching the consolation semis. I surely hope it’s not my last one, and encourage anyone who likes the game to participate in some of those future large squash events, it’s a lot of fun. – Stephane Lussier
Participating in this event was an eye-opener. So many talented and enthusiastic squash players from all over the world. The facility was world class and very impressive. I enjoyed my matches and came back with what I need to work on to improve my game moving forward. This event was re-energizing and tons of fun, super well organized and run, with time marshals at every court area. The ex-pros who were there are SO FRIENDLY and trying to build squash after pro in a very fun and open way – Stephanie Bazin
The facilities and staff were second to none and the punctuality and clock work of courts as well. With so much great squash, older and younger it was hard to get away to do anything in between. Great chats with players and staff from all around the world, looking forward in trying to go to Poland in two years and see an even greater Canadian presence – Rex Jung
